Lateral thinking is back! Let's talk about success
Hey lateral thinkers - hope everyone had an amazing few weeks. Things are finally getting back on track after two really smooth launches organized in less than a few days (Kanye’s Donda Deluxe album and Snoop Dogg’s Algorithm).
On top of that, holy s#it, we’re featured in Campaign US!
Now that we’re back to smooth sailing, time to deep dive into lateral thinking again.
As a reminder, I won’t be sending daily newsletters anymore - most likely once or twice per week, in order to eliminate some self-imposed pressure and have more time to focus on quality content.
Without further ado, let’s jump into it:
You’re sitting in a plane. There’s a horse behind you and a spaceship in front of you. What’s happening?
An answer, as usual, at the end.

Your own formula
One of the greatest things you can do for yourself is figuring out your formula for success.
What brings you authentic joy? What gets your thrilled beyond belief? Don’t think about what SHOULD get you excited - that couldn’t matter less.
For years, I chased public acknowledgement thinking that’s the definition of success. I grew up thinking I should strive for that. Each time I got there, it left me… wanting. I was happy for a fleeting second, then it was gone.
That’s because it didn’t really matter to me. Not at my core.
Want to know what gets me thrilled now? The freedom of saying no. Being in a position where I can do things because I want to, not because I have to.
Yes, public recognition can help you get to that position of being able to say no - but it’s important to realize that one is just a tool for the actual end goal.
Everything else is secondary - it matters, of course, but it doesn’t even hold a candle to the thrill I get when I realize I can comfortably refuse projects or people that I don’t believe in.
This formula is personal for everyone.
For some, it’s money. For others, it’s recognition. It can be both. But don’t lie to yourself. Don’t go into virtue signaling by overcomplicating your formula. It’s ok to be basic and admit your needs.
My formula is being in a position where I can say no without having any financial or “branding” concerns. To rediscover JOMO - the Joy of Missing Out.
Once you figure that out, you’re finally in control. And nothing feels better.
Answer: You’re riding a carousel, of course!
On an end note, literally hundreds of you reached out and told me that you miss the daily newsletter - that was genuinely heartwarming. While I definitely can’t keep up with the daily pace anymore (maybe I will one day), I do appreciate the support more than I can put into words. Thank you.
I hope you’ll still enjoy the newsletter despite its lower frequency - in theory, at least, I should have time for more insightful subjects!
